Sixth Judicial District Court
The
District Court provides for the resolution of civil and criminal
matters. The primary emphasis of the Court
is an expeditious and fair resolution of the cases brought before it in
a manner which is consistent with standards of due process. The Court
relies on current statutes/ordinances and rulings from the Nevada and
United States Supreme Courts when making decisions. This adherence to
established principles of law enables the Court to protect the rights of
the individual while serving the community’s needs.
The Judges hear the following types of matters:
* Criminal cases for persons charged with felonies and gross misdemeanors
* Civil cases involving claims in excess of seven thousand five hundred
dollars ($10,000.00).
* Probate Matters
* Guardianship and Administrator Appointments
* Domestic Relations Matters
* Determinations of Paternity
* Child Support
* Mental Health Commitments
* Juvenile Court Hearings
The Sixth Judicial District Court in Pershing County is located at the Courthouse at 400 Main Street in Lovelock, Nevada. The District Court maintains a law library which is located in the lower level of the courthouse.
