Donations
Donations Of Materials
The Library welcomes donation of books, paperbacks, audio books and videos that are clean and in good condition. We often add donated materials to the library collection. According to our collection policy, materials not used by the library are given to the Friends of the Library for their Book Sale Corner in the library. Other donations may be given to other organizations or discarded. The library does not determine the value of materials donated to the library, but we are happy to provide a letter stating how many items were donated for income tax purposes, provided the materials meet the following standards.
Materials We Can Accept
- Materials in good condition
- DVDs and Audio Books in good working order
- Gently-used children's books
- Books, both fiction and nonfiction in paperback and hardback
- Mass Market Paperback books
Things We Cannot Accept
We cannot accept materials that are dirty, wet, moldy, damaged or excessively marked or highlighted. If it's been in an open box in a shed or garage for the last few years, we probably don't want it. If you don't want to touch it, neither do library staff. Materials that are not in their original packaging, such as books without their covers, and DVDs or CDs without their original cases may be discarded.
We Also Cannot Accept
- Textbooks
- Encyclopedias
- Reader's Digest Condensed Books
- Books on Business, tax, law, real estate, computers, health, or travel published more than 5 years ago.
